Dear Parent/Guardian,
For a Mandarin version, please click HERE.
As you may know, each spring students in grades 3 through 8 participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) statewide assessments. For spring 2021, the California Department of Education has given districts flexibility to use the most viable option for assessment in their local context, including the option to administer district assessments in place of state tests. In consideration of local pandemic-related factors and in line with state and county assessment guidance, IUSD will report STAR Renaissance Reading and Math results to parents/guardians of 3rd - 8th grade students in place of CAASPP results. School results will also be reported overall and by subgroup in Turtle Rock Elementary’s School Accountability Report Card. Students whose IEPs indicate they will take the California Alternate Assessments will either participate in the STAR Renaissance assessments or the SANDI.
Using assessments that are already a part of our curriculum will help reduce testing time this spring, allowing teachers to prioritize instructional time to focus on addressing student academic and social-emotional needs. These assessments provide one of multiple measures of a student’s skills. When combined with other factors, like report card grades and teacher input, results will provide a more complete picture of your child’s performance.
You will receive an e-mail when your child’s scores are available in Parent Portal later this spring. For more information about state assessments, please visit the IUSD Statewide Testing website HERE. If you have any questions, please contact Jeremy Stonebarger at jeremystonebarger@iusd.org.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Stonebarger
